It is 115 degrees outside in July! Do we still hike in this hot weather, huh?
During the long, hot summer days, guided hikes may be limited due to the extreme high desert heat. For your safety, hike tours are scheduled from sunrise through 11AM and again from about 6PM to dusk. There is very limited afternoon hiking in the summer, except for our Weight-Loss/Boot Camp program.
Why is it extremely important to drink more water in Phoenix than elsewhere?
No one wants to run out of cold drinking water or lose his/her way in the middle of the Southwest Sonoran Desert. Communing with nature in these often harsh conditions requires that you drink plenty of fluids. You must keep yourself properly hydrated. Remember that by the time you feel thirsty, you may already be dehydrated. It has been reported that person can lose fluids in the Arizona heat at a rate equal to two “soda cans” an hour! Our famous “dry heat” can really dry you out. We make certain that you take in plenty of refreshing fluids before, during and after hiking.
What does the Weight-Loss/Boot Camp program offer?
Weight-Loss/Boot Camp is one of our customized hiking services. It’s a special “he-man” and strong woman event for both public and private groups that can take you on a two or three day hiking spree. Now let’s clarify this. This is not a 3-day sleep-away hike or camping trip. There are plenty of trails in each park, wherever you desire a challenge! A full weekend of hiking is an example. These special Boot Camp rates are separate—Please call us to make arrangements. Your feet will really get a workout, and you’ll need the proper shoes to climb up and down, and to step over and around a variety of rugged terrain. Many of the mountains in this area are serious and demanding climbs, soaring about 2,700 feet above sea level. That’s not a small hill; it’s a pretty hefty mountain.
How do the customized hikes work?
This special packages can be set up to your specifications, such as a Weight-Loss/Boot Camp or just a sunrise/sunset hike with/without breakfast/dinner prior to/or after your hike. Remember, these can be arranged according to YOUR schedule. Please speak with a reservation agent to plan this type of arrangement.
Are gift certificates available?
Yes they are! They’re available in any amount making it easy for you to budget a gift for the “perfect someone” for that very special occasion! Call us for more details toll-free 877 HIKE-PHX (877 445-3749) or internationally at 516 799-2273.
